Pulmonary hypertension is a condition of increased blood pressure within the arteries of the lung (pulmonary arteries). It is a rare chronic illness associated with abnormally high pressure in the blood vessels supplying the lungs from the heart. This restricts blood flow to the lungs, limiting effective oxygen transport throughout the body.

Though its rare, there are Nigerians living with this ailment, but majority are unaware due to misdiagnosis, lack of knowledge and information on pulmonary hypertension.

We @cardiaccommunity are out to raise awareness on pulmonary hypertension, thereby introducing the #bluelipschallenge.

We need you to help participate and raise awareness on pulmonary hypertension by posting a picture of yourself wearing blue lipstick on social media using hashtags #bluelipschallenge #phawareness #phnigeria.

Please share this post and don’t forget to challenge others.

Blue tinted lips and skin (cyanosis) is a symptom of pulmonary hypertension. It occurs due to the low level of oxygen in people with this illness.
